Tapiwa Motshweneng has over 5 years of experience in public health service. Currently, Tapiwa is a Senior Biomedical Engineer at the Ministry of Health, focusing on provision of leadership for the management and maintenance of medical devices and supplies in an effective and economic approach to improve health service delivery. Working within the Ministry of Health, she has experience in providing technical advice on financial management, operational management, performance monitoring, performance improvement, personnel management and leadership administration together with development of policies, providing budget recommendations and ensure technical skill transfer of the officers through arranging for training. Tapiwa has experience in nationally setting priorities and development strategies to ensure availability and functionality of medical supplies. Tapiwa holds a Master's degree in Medical Engineering from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom. Tapiwa believes in servant leadership and is driven to impact positive change, systems thinking and transformation in strengthening health systems, efficacy and capacity to improve quality of life and attain Universal Health Coverage (UHC) nationally and globally. Tapiwa is a 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni. Through the MWF Tapiwa acquired skills that will enable her to continue being functional in the development of well-established interventions, institutions, structures as well as policies, intended to provide appropriate health technology to efficiently strengthen Botswana health systems to safeguard equitable and accessible healthcare for all.
