Lucas Recknagel

Hi, I’m Lucas 👋
I’m the CTO of AMPEERS Energy, a startup founded in Munich with a team now spread across Germany. Our mission is to help decarbonize the real estate sector — with a strong focus on the housing industry — and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future.

My career started in the automotive industry, where I worked on large-scale data pipelines (ETL, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka, and more). Over time, I shifted into the green-tech space to align my work with my values and contribute to sustainability. This is my first CTO role, and I’ve grown with the challenges every day. Since we launched in 2019 with a small team of six, we’ve grown to over 100 people working together on this mission at AMPEERS.

I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned along the way — from building teams and technology in startups to tackling leadership challenges in growing organizations. If you’re navigating similar paths or stepping into your first CTO position, I’d be delighted to share my experiences and insights.

Outside of work, you’ll often find me traveling across Germany by train. I live in Dresden, where I also studied, and enjoy roadcycling, good food and hiking whenever I can.

I’m looking forward to exchanging ideas, sharing lessons learned (both solved and ongoing challenges), and supporting others who are taking on leadership roles in technology-driven companies.
